Daniel has struggled with his mental health throughout his life and lived an unhealthy lifestyle. He realised he needed a change, ordered a Penny Farthing bike and planned to ride across Australia with the hope that it would heal his mind and body.

As he journeys across the country, Daniel has also been fundraising for mental health charities. So far he has raised over $12,600! All the money Daniel raises will be split between @beyondblueofficial, @headspace_aus, @livinorg, @lifeline_wa, @thekaieardleyfoundation and @happiness__co.

Do you remember your first week at a new school? Do you remember trying to fit in? Did you keep a low profile and do your best not to stand out? Because that’s what I did.
·
There was one young lad at Boyup Brook District High School who did the exact opposite. This was his first week at a new school, having just moved to Australia. He voiced his opinion early, challenging the stereotype that men are supposed to hide their emotions. He opened up, he talked and he led the conversation within the room.
·
I was surprised when I learnt that it was only his second day at the school. He showed an emotional maturity far beyond his years, and when I asked, “How do we remedy the horrific statistics that are killing us too young?” He responded with ease, “We need to talk.”
·
When a young bloke like this has the confidence to step up and talk, the rest of the boys in the room learn something. They see how powerful it is to open up, they see the strength in talking about difficult times in their lives.
·
This young man led the way and allowed the rest of the room to follow by talking and sharing their experiences. It sounds easy because he made it sound easy. This is what leading with strength looks like - being the first to talk, to open up, to share. - Rhett

Reposted from @tomorrowman_au “I reckon we’re Reposted from @tomorrowman_au “I reckon we’re raising a softer generation today. Blokes in the war didn’t have these types of problems” said one of the first blokes to speak during our first A Night With The Blokes in Boyup Brook back in October last year. This opinion is often shared during these nights. ·
We were in a room of farmers, shearers and young blokes from this small country town in the south-west of WA. Boyup Brook is known for hard workers, full of blokes who’ve had to work through tough times. Tough as nails.
·
As we progressed through the workshop, we came to the statistic “The fastest-growing rate of suicide is men above the age 55”. This shook the room. Many of the men had lost blokes in this age bracket. This wasn’t about softer generations, this was about recognising that blokes of all ages are going through tough times. Whether it’s drought, family challenges or school challenges, tough times come in many different forms. We’re all fighting battles.
·
At the end of the workshop, the same bloke that made the statement about raising a soft generation approached us. He shook our hands, choking back tears and said “We need this down here. Please come back.”
·
The blokes in the room that night owned the fact that sometimes we can all struggle, no matter the generation. And it’s not about blame, it’s about setting an example. An example that says “being tough isn’t just about working hard, it’s about standing up for your mates when they are struggling.” That’s being tough.
·
We were lucky enough to be back in Boyup Brook last week, following up with these same men, meeting some new faces, and hearing some amazing stories of blokes being tough.
·
Thanks to @thekaieardleyfund for making this night happen and to @Gotcha4Life for getting us to WA.✈️🙏🏻
